Robert Clifford Schryver was born in Watertown,
New York, on 17 June 1927.
He was the first child and only son of Clifford Gilbert and Ruth Mitchell
Schryver. He grew up in Omar and graduated from Alexandria Bay
High School in 1943, at the age of 16. He enrolled at Cornell
University, Ithaca, New York, where he studied 2-1/2 years before
entering the Army. He served 1-1/2 years in Arkansas and Germany,
and after his discharge, returned to Cornell. He majored in
chemistry and graduated on February 22, 1949.
According to his obituary that appeared in the
Watertown Daily Times, "Mr. Schryver retired from Vulcan Corp.,
Clarksville, Tennessee. He was a member and elder of First
Presbyterian Church, Clarksville, and was active in the Boy Scouts of
America. He also was a charter member of Cunningham Volunteer Fire
Department."
Robert died at his home in Clarksville on
Friday, October 3, 1997. His funeral was held on October 6 at
First Presbyterian Church with the Reverend George Gracey, Jr.
officiating. He is buried in Martha Chapel Cemetery, Cunningham,
Tennessee.
